How do I choose the right therapist to work with?
Research shows again and again that the effectiveness of the therapy or counselling is determined by the relationship you have with your therapist or counsellor.
It is therefore important that you find someone who you feel comfortable with and who you can build a trusting relationship with.
Some therapists may offer a free, short, initial telephone chat before you book to help you both decide if you would work well together. However, booking an initial session is also a good way to get more information about whether you feel comfortable, and there is certainly no obligation to book further sessions unless you feel it is right for you. Contact the therapists directly to ask about costs, and whether they offer a free phone consultation.

All our therapists are self-employed and manage their own diaries and appointments. When therapists join, we interview them and require evidence of professional qualifications, insurance and membership of professional bodies. They are each required to be in supervision and their supervisors have confirmed the accuracy of the content of their profiles on this website. They are each independently accountable and their presence on our website does not constitute an endorsement by us of their competencies.
