Rachel Vanstone – Psychological Therapist with EMDR

Contact:
I offer an initial phone consultation, giving us the chance to talk about what’s brought you to therapy, what you are hoping to achieve and whether working together feels like the right fit. Finding the right therapist is such an important element of therapy and this conversation allows us both to decide whether I am the best person to support you.

EDMR Psychological Therapy with Rachel Vanstone
I am a Psychological Therapist working within the NHS, specialising in the treatment of complex trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). I have almost 30 years’ experience working in mental health, including 20 years as an Occupational Therapist and the last 10 years as a Psychological Therapist.
I am an accredited EMDR Practitioner and an Advanced Accredited Schema Therapist. Alongside these specialist approaches, I also integrate Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), allowing me to tailor therapy to each person’s individual needs and goals.
My passion is helping people break free from long-standing patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving that keep them stuck. These patterns often develop as ways of coping with difficult life experiences but can, over time, prevent us from meeting our emotional needs, living in line with our values and developing a clear sense of who we are.
Therapy offers the opportunity to understand these patterns with compassion, rather than self criticism, creating space for healing and lasting change. Whether you are struggling with the impact of trauma, anxiety, low self esteem, relationship difficulties or simply feel disconnected from yourself, I will work collaboratively with you to help you understand your experiences and move towards a more fulfilling life.
Whatever your goals for therapy, I believe that feeling comfortable in your own skin and developing a more authentic relationship with yourself and others are fundamental to emotional wellbeing. My aim is to provide a safe, supportive and non-judgemental space where you can explore your experiences, heal old wounds, feel genuinely seen, heard and understood, be able to reconnect with your strengths and create meaningful change.
As a therapist I place great importance on being calm, grounded and emotionally present throughout our work together. I understand that our nervous systems communicate with one another and I strive to offer a steady, regulated presence that can help you feel safe enough to explore difficult experiences at your own pace.
