Psychotherapy Individual and Couples Counselling with Michelle Hicks
I am a fully insured accredited registrant of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society(NCPS ).
As a counsellor I provide a safe, supportive and non-judgemental space for individuals affected by a range of challenges including trauma, anxiety, depression, bereavement and complex life experiences, with particular focus on supporting male and female survivors of sexual abuse. I have a strong foundation in trauma informed care and with a compassionate approach. I work with clients to explore their emotions, develop coping strategies and work towards healing and personal growth.
With a pluralistic approach I draw on a range of therapeutic models including CBT, psychodynamic therapy and humanistic approaches ensuring that my practice is tailored to suit the unique needs and goals of individual clients.
I work at pace that suits each client allowing them to feel comfortable and empowered throughout our sessions. No matter when the distress occurred, I am here to help you work through it. I support clients with both current and historic issues, providing a safe and compassionate space for exploration and healing.
Alongside my individual work, I offer couples counselling — providing a calm, compassionate space where both partners can feel heard, understood, and supported. Together, we explore patterns of communication, rebuild emotional connection, and work through challenges with care and respect. Whether you’re navigating conflict, struggling to reconnect, or wanting to strengthen your bond, our sessions focus on deepening understanding, and finding new ways to relate with empathy, openness and trust.
Before becoming a counsellor I worked in the healthcare sector. With a lifelong commitment to healthcare, I have had the privilege to work with patients and clients helping them navigate various challenges including anxiety, depression, trauma, distress and difficult life transitions and helped them enhance the quality of their life. I have also had the opportunity to work with clients on health and wellness which has deepened my understanding of the complex interplay between physical and emotional wellbeing.
