Integrative Counselling and Therapies with David James
Finding the right counsellor means feeling safe, understood, and genuinely supported.
I’m David, an integrative counsellor based in Cardiff. I offer face-to-face sessions locally as well as online or by phone throughout Wales and the UK. I’m a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and an accredited registrant with the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS).
Many people come to therapy when life feels overwhelming, confusing, or stuck. My role is to provide a steady, grounded environment where you can speak freely, explore what lies beneath the surface, and start to regain clarity, confidence, and direction. Therapy with me is a collaborative process — you set the pace, and together we work toward what is most meaningful and helpful for you.
Therapy isn’t solely about addressing pain or trauma. It can also be an opportunity for growth, creativity, and self-discovery — a chance to reconnect with parts of yourself that bring energy, insight, and transformation. Clients often describe this journey as both grounding and liberating, as they begin to view themselves and their lives through fresh perspectives.
As an integrative counsellor, I draw on a variety of therapeutic approaches, tailoring each session to your unique needs. Some sessions may focus on exploring emotions or recurring patterns, while others may involve practical tools, insights, or developing new ways of relating to yourself and others. My approach is warm, compassionate, and flexible, always centred on what will support you best.
I also offer Rewind Therapy, a gentle trauma-focused method designed to reduce the emotional impact of distressing memories without requiring you to revisit traumatic details in depth. Many find it a safe and effective way to ease symptoms associated with trauma and PTSD.
To make therapy more accessible around work and family commitments, I offer early morning and late evening appointments on weekdays and weekends.
Above all, therapy with me is grounded in kindness, clarity, and professionalism — providing a supportive setting where you can reflect, explore, and grow at your own pace.
If you’d like to start therapy or simply want to learn more, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. I look forward to supporting you on your journey.
