Psychological Support with Adam El Turaify
Most psychological suffering becomes worse when life loses structure, meaning, or a sense of direction. My role is to help you understand what is driving your distress—and then work with you to build the skills, routines, and decisions that restore stability and confidence.
We will look closely at patterns that repeat: avoidance, self-criticism, emotional overwhelm, relationship triggers, and the behaviours that may relieve pain in the short term but create bigger problems over time. The aim is practical change—clearer thinking, stronger self-regulation, and a life that feels more manageable and aligned with your values.
I offer a professional, confidential space, and I work in a structured way so that each session has purpose and momentum.
I am Adam El Turaify, a BPS Psychologist (GBC) with an MSc Psychology (Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership) South Wales University, I am also a PhD Researcher (Health Studies), University of Nottingham (current), focusing on workplace wellbeing, burnout, loneliness, self-harm and mental health.
Clients often seek support with anxiety, depression/low mood, ADHD-related difficulties, emotional dysregulation, attachment-related challenges, trauma/PTSD symptoms, and addiction (substance misuse and behavioural patterns). I also support people affected by burnout, compassion fatigue and vicarious trauma, particularly in demanding caring or frontline roles.
How I work
My approach is structured, evidence-informed and responsive to the individual. I integrate:
- CBT-informed tools (thought patterns, behaviour change, routines)
- ACT (Acceptance & Commitment Therapy) (values-based action, psychological flexibility, working with difficult thoughts)
- Humanistic, person-centred principles (empathy, meaning, identity, self-worth)
- Motivational interviewing (supporting change, ambivalence, relapse prevention)
All work is trauma-informed, with attention to safety, pacing and emotional regulation.
Areas I work with
- ADHD-related challenges and neurodiversity (focus, overwhelm, emotional regulation, executive functioning)
- Anxiety and panic
- Depression / low mood
- Stress and chronic overwhelm
- Burnout and workplace pressure (especially caring/frontline roles)
